The Venipuncture Operations Coordinator at Ochsner Health System is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of all venipuncture personnel and processes within the department. This role involves scheduling, staffing, monitoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of work activities to ensure that a quality product is delivered. The coordinator will maintain good peer relationships and provide leadership while coordinating resources to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. The position requires the implementation of policies and procedures necessary for success, as well as supervising initiatives aimed at improving processes and maximizing efficiency to serve both internal and external customers. In this role, the coordinator will lead the work activities of the phlebotomy group, resolve customer service concerns through service recovery initiatives, and assist in fostering a customer service culture within the department. This includes implementing new customer service strategies that enhance patient satisfaction. The coordinator will also assist in the orientation and training of new employees, provide ongoing assistance and instruction to all staff in the venipuncture group, and offer feedback to supervisors regarding staff performance. Timely responses to priority venipuncture requests and ensuring adequate staffing coverage for all shifts are critical responsibilities. The coordinator will work closely with supervisors to control man-hours and supply costs while maintaining effective communication with nursing personnel, department directors, and other key staff. Additionally, the coordinator must ensure compliance with all Infection Control Policies and Procedures, CAP guidelines, and the department Safety Manual. The role requires adapting behavior to meet the needs of specific patient populations, including respecting privacy and effectively communicating services or procedures to be performed. The position may also involve other related duties as required, and the coordinator must remain knowledgeable about current federal, state, and local laws, as well as accreditation standards that apply to the assigned area of responsibility.
