The Venipuncture Operations Coordinator is responsible for leading the daily operations of all venipuncture personnel and processes within the department. This role involves scheduling, staffing, monitoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of work activities to ensure quality service delivery. The coordinator maintains good peer relationships and assures that a quality product is delivered to both internal and external customers. The position requires the implementation of policies and procedures necessary for success, as well as supervision of initiatives aimed at improving processes and maximizing efficiency. The coordinator is also tasked with providing leadership and coordinating resources to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. In this role, the coordinator will lead the work activities of the phlebotomy group, resolve customer service concerns through service recovery initiatives, and assist in fostering a customer service culture within the department. This includes implementing new customer service strategies that enhance patient satisfaction. The coordinator will also assist in the orientation and training of new employees, provide ongoing support and instruction to all venipuncture staff, and offer feedback to supervisors regarding staff performance. The coordinator must ensure timely responses to priority venipuncture requests and maintain adequate staffing coverage for all shifts. They will work closely with supervisors to control man-hours and supply costs while effectively communicating with nursing personnel, department directors, and other key staff. Compliance with all Infection Control Policies and Procedures, CAP guidelines, and the department Safety Manual is essential. The role requires adapting behavior to meet the needs of specific patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The position may also involve other related duties as required, and the coordinator must remain knowledgeable about current laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements relevant to their responsibilities.
