About the position

The position involves collecting blood specimens through venipuncture or fingerstick for clinical patient testing. The individual will prepare samples for transport to reference laboratories and perform electrocardiogram tracings for interpretation, as well as Holter monitor hookups. The role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of care consistent with the Aultman Health Foundation's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient hookups for Holter Monitor testing.
  • Acquires electrocardiogram tracings for physician interpretation.
  • Instructs patients in the proper collection procedure for self-collections of certain samples for culturing.
  • Prepares and logs specimens being transported to clinical and pathology reference labs.
  • Places lab supply orders to storeroom.
  • Performs blood collection by venipunctures and micro-collection techniques.
  • Processes specimen to ensure the integrity of the sample prior to testing.
  • Distributes specimens to the appropriate testing area.
  • Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
  • Travels to off-site draw stations as assigned.
  • Demonstrates, creates, and fosters a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Aultman Health Foundation.
  • Manages time wisely and seeks assignments when duties are completed.
  • Completes training and competency to collect nasopharyngeal swabs.
  • Represents the hospital by volunteering for community activities which may include participation at community events, activities or on local boards.
  • Seeks opportunities for involvement and participates in hospital based committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate or have a GED certificate
  • Must have a current Certified Phlebotomy technician certificate (CPT)
  • BALS CPR Certification
  • Prior experience preferred
  • Subject to background check and fingerprinting
