Buffalo Rock Company, an award-winning Pepsi-Cola Bottler founded over 100 years ago in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Vertique Level 3 employee for its Central Hub warehouse. This position is integral to the operations of the warehouse, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the functions associated with Vertique Levels 1 and 2, as well as the ability to perform specific Level 3 tasks. The primary responsibilities include receiving inbound loads, conducting pallet checks, managing inventory control functions, and loading outbound shipments. The role demands flexibility, as employees will float between various tasks as needed, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. The Vertique Level 3 position requires regular and timely attendance, with the expectation to work all necessary hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Key responsibilities include processing and verifying inbound products against Bills of Lading (BOLs), ensuring the accuracy of product dates to avoid short-dated items, and verifying outbound pallets by product and route number. Employees will also be responsible for loading products from the Vertique line onto outbound trailers, completing cycle counts, and analyzing inventory reports. The role necessitates multitasking and sound decision-making in a fast-paced, noisy environment. Additionally, employees must maintain the proper function of machines through intermediate problem-solving skills, complete physical inventory counts, and investigate inventory variances. The position also involves reading purchase orders, utilizing the VPI system for scheduling, and ensuring cleanliness in the warehouse. Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and participation in food safety training is mandatory. Continuous self-improvement through training provided by Buffalo Rock is expected, along with the ability to read and interpret instructions from a computer screen.

Responsibilities

  • Process and verify inbound products matching to Bills of Lading (BOLs).
  • Verify product dates to avoid issues with short-dated products.
  • Verify outbound pallets by product and route number through the Vertique system.
  • Load products from the Vertique line and pallet picks onto outbound trailers.
  • Complete and verify cycle counts and analyze inventory reports.
  • Maintain proper function of machines through problem-solving skills.
  • Complete daily/weekly/monthly physical inventory counts as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances.
  • Remove pallets from palletizers and staging areas, loading them into the correct door by trailer/route number.
  • Utilize VPI to verify inbound appointment requests and schedule inbound purchase orders.
  • Place top-off cases on pallets and ensure accuracy before running through the palletizer.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and the building.
  • Make sound decisions and multitask without constant supervision.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as per regulations.
  • Participate in food safety-related training and report potential issues.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • 3+ years of warehouse experience preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • At least 1 year of experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) or similar system functionality (e.g., Red Prairie, SAP, Manhattan).
  • 3+ years of forklift experience, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
  • Prior experience with manual loading and unloading of products in a high-volume work environment.
  • Experience working in an automated environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency with personal computers and basic use of Windows environment required.
  • Ability to read product packaging and communicate in English via radio.
