About the position

Patterson Companies, Inc. is seeking a motivated individual to join our vet service team as a Vet Service Technician. As a Vet Service Technician, you will be responsible for the repair and on-site installation of a variety of veterinary equipment, ensuring that you follow manufacturer guidelines and adhere to all relevant regulations. In this role, you will independently respond to assigned customer service calls, diagnosing problems and making appropriate repairs. You will be tasked with loading, delivering, installing, and specifying equipment to meet specific manufacturer, federal, and state regulations. Training will be provided to perform standard system installations and to test the functionality of all components. Additionally, you will train customers on the use and basic maintenance of the equipment at their site, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle their veterinary needs. Maintaining strong and supportive customer relationships is crucial, as you will provide technical support after the initial installation of equipment, PC software, and hardware, ensuring that service commitments are met within standard response times. You will also be responsible for inventory management, determining the parts, supplies, or tools needed to complete service requests, and managing vehicle inventory. This role requires a commitment to following proper vehicle maintenance guidelines and safe driving habits, as well as ensuring the proper use and maintenance of all company-provided assets.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and/or repair veterinary equipment.
  • Independently respond to assigned customer service calls, diagnosing problems and making appropriate repairs.
  • Repair, load, deliver, install, and specify equipment to meet specific manufacturer, federal and state regulations.
  • Train to perform standard system installations and test the functionality of all components.
  • Train customers on the use and basic maintenance of equipment at the customer's site.
  • Learn and follow specific manufacturer guidelines for repairs as well as all company, OSHA, or other agencies' policies related to asepsis.
  • Complete all required service forms (service order, confirmations, inventory, expense reports, time sheet, and equipment related items).
  • Maintain strong and supportive customer relationships by providing technical support after initial installation of equipment, PC software, and hardware and ensuring that service commitments are met within standard response time.
  • Maintain relevant communication with Service Coordinator, Equipment Specialist and Territory Manager.
  • Determine parts, supplies or tools needed to complete service requests.
  • Use, maintain, and secure test devices and tools used to adjust, calibrate, and repair equipment.
  • Manage vehicle inventory and restock as necessary.
  • Conduct physical inventory audits on a bi-annual basis.
  • Ensure proper vehicle maintenance guidelines and safe driving habits are followed.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of all company provided assets, including but not limited to phone, computer, parts, tools and uniforms.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-5 years prior experience in a Veterinary/Medical/Dental environment.
  • PC skills in Windows based programs.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 4 years of experience as a Certified, Licensed or Registered Veterinary Technician.
  • Previous X-Ray experience preferred.
  • SAP experience.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Carpentry/plumbing/heating/electrical/electronic related experience.
  • Technical training in Bio-med/electronics or related technical field.
