The Outside Sales Account Manager position at Airgas in Syracuse, NY, is a pivotal role focused on managing the sales process and driving profitable sales growth within an assigned territory. This position requires frequent local travel, accounting for approximately 75% of the work time, with minimal overnight travel. The Account Manager will be responsible for meeting and exceeding corporate and regional objectives related to profitable sales growth, accounts receivable management, and customer retention. In this role, the Account Manager will develop and execute sales plans in alignment with Airgas's sales directives and guidelines. This includes servicing existing accounts, obtaining orders, and establishing new accounts. The AM will qualify and pursue sales leads while cultivating strong customer relationships by gaining a deep understanding of the customer's business and establishing a consultative relationship. Engaging customers effectively by linking their business priorities to the Airgas value proposition is essential. The Account Manager will prepare sales proposals, quote pricing, establish credit terms, and provide estimated delivery dates based on knowledge of Airgas's production and delivery schedules. Staying current with industry insights, product mixes, and competitive information is crucial for success in this role. The AM will partner with internal resources to achieve growth objectives and maintain clear communication with internal departments regarding customer successes and opportunities. Additionally, the AM will be responsible for maintaining and submitting various sales reports as required by the District Manager, as well as actively managing existing customer accounts receivable balances to minimize financial risk for Airgas. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
