About the position

Airgas AT&S is seeking a Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer to join our team in Cheshire, CT. This position is ideal for an individual with over 5 years of experience in developing hardware for embedded systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and testing printed circuit boards (PCBs) for electronic products specifically tailored for the gas industry. This role requires a collaborative mindset, as the engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the successful development of electronic products from concept through production. The engineer will be accountable for creating hardware design requirements, developing test plans, and documenting test results for various systems. This includes conducting system functional tests and troubleshooting devices and equipment as necessary. The role also involves communication with board houses, acting as the main technical point of contact to minimize errors and delays in board production and delivery. Additionally, the engineer will prepare product drawings, schematics, and bills of material that meet project requirements while providing ongoing technical assistance to manufacturing teams. Collaboration with software engineers is essential, as the engineer will specify components to facilitate efficient firmware design. The ideal candidate will possess a BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, along with a strong background in embedded microcontroller-based hardware design, including peripheral devices such as A/D converters, voltage/current switches, regulators, controllers, monitors, and more. Experience with low power wireless sensor designs and RF wireless communication technologies is preferred, as is familiarity with regulatory approvals such as TUV, EMC, UL, and FCC. The candidate should also have experience with basic firmware design in languages such as C, C++, and Assembly, as well as knowledge of FPGAs and CPLDs.
