About the position

The position involves project management, engineering design, bidding, and construction management for pipeline projects within American Water. The role requires overseeing technical aspects and supervising consulting project engineers and construction inspectors to ensure project delivery aligns with company standards and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical, bidding, and contractual documents for capital investment projects.
• Establish project budgets and scope.
• Manage multiple projects and perform varied engineering assignments related to planning, design, or construction.
• Ensure scope and quality of work meet Design Concepts and Company standards for capacity, performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop technical information and concepts into feasible engineering approaches.
• Provide technical expertise on engineering and operational issues.
• Supervise field and contract personnel to ensure timely completion of assignments within budget and adherence to standards.
• Support the pre-qualification and selection of consulting and construction organizations for projects.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 - 5 years' experience in water resources design, construction, and/or project management.
• Engineering Bachelor's Degree.
• Engineering Master's Degree preferred.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering design theory and practice, project management, construction and contract management, water resources, and utility operations.
• Knowledge of current trends in water quality and treatment and regulations impacting the water industry.
• Process, project, and program management skills.
• Effective people management skills.
