About the position

The Supply Chain Solutions Technician at Airgas will play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining the Outlook Service Model, which encompasses packaged gas deliveries and management programs. This position is pivotal in establishing safe handling practices, ensuring efficient order processing and invoicing, and initiating cost reduction programs. The technician will also be responsible for reporting and day-to-day customer interface at various customer sites. As the first Airgas representative that customers will interact with regarding all packaged gases, welding hard goods, and safety-related issues, the technician must efficiently manage customers' product needs to stay ahead of usage and prevent emergencies. In this role, you will streamline and manage the ordering process, including error resolution, and oversee the implementation of e-commerce and EDI/EFT systems. You will be tasked with providing reports for regulatory agencies, accounting/auditing, and internal cost allocation. Accurate cylinder barcode tracking is essential, and you will maintain hand-held devices and other technology support equipment. Additionally, you will support the local branch 1-2 days per week and as needed to assist with deliveries and manage warehouse and yard responsibilities for assigned customers' inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and execute cost reduction programs and provide necessary reporting.
  • Manage day-to-day customer interface at customer sites.
  • Streamline and manage the ordering process and error resolution process.
  • Oversee e-commerce and EDI/EFT implementation.
  • Provide reports for regulatory agencies, accounting/auditing, and internal cost allocation.
  • Ensure accurate cylinder barcode tracking and maintain technology support equipment.
  • Support the local branch 1-2 days per week and assist with deliveries and warehouse responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas Driver's License in good standing.
  • Prior experience in the gas, welding, and safety supply industry preferred.
  • Intermediate PC knowledge and familiarity with onboard computers/telematics preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend material data sheets.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and ability to perform necessary math functions and analysis.
  • Ability to maintain customers' safety credentials to enter assigned sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with material handling equipment.
