About the position

The Veterinarian position at Allied Universal® Enhanced Protection Services involves mentoring veterinary personnel, ensuring the health of working canines, and providing sustainable medical care. The role requires collaboration with a team of veterinarians and technicians to maintain the wellness of a large number of working dogs, utilizing advanced medical equipment and practices. The Veterinarian will also be responsible for traveling to various locations, including austere environments, to deliver veterinary care and support.

Responsibilities

  • Examine canines for various diseases or injuries, and administer the best possible treatment(s)
  • Perform routine, elective, and emergent surgical procedures consistent with Working Dog general practice
  • Research and prescribe preventative strategies to maximize canine fitness for duty
  • Utilize in-house imaging modalities, such as digital radiographs and ultrasound; perform studies and interpret results
  • Train and present veterinary information to veterinary personnel, canine handlers, trainers, and other stakeholders
  • Use a cloud-based electronic medical record system to maintain veterinary records and generate reports
  • Provide veterinary expertise and inspections for facilities used to kennel Working Dog populations

Requirements

  • Veterinary degree from an institution accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association
  • Licensed as a veterinarian in at least one U.S. state, with the ability to become licensed in Virginia within 90 days of starting employment
  • USDA Accredited (minimum Category 1) to issue international health certificates for canines
  • U.S. Citizen with a valid U.S. Passport
  • Ability to maintain or possess a minimum SECRET level clearance
  • Minimum of two years of experience practicing as a veterinarian
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Effective communication and consultation skills with other veterinary teams
