About The Position

The Relief Veterinarian plays a crucial role in providing preventative care, diagnosing, and treating diseases and injuries in pets. This position emphasizes the importance of safety, effective communication with clients, and adherence to legal standards while delivering exceptional veterinary services.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
• License in good standing with the applicable state veterinary board.
• License with the Drug Enforcement Agency required.
• Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of standard medical instruments and equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with a variety of pets including dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of pets, clients, and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques and maintaining clean treatment areas.
• Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper medical records.
• Educate clients about preventative care, pet health needs, and treatment options.
• Provide professional service including prescribing and administering preventative care and diagnosing and treating diseases.
• Effectively communicate diagnosis and treatment plans to the veterinary medical team and clients.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws regarding veterinary practices.
• Understand and follow state guidelines regarding the duties of veterinary assistants and licensed veterinary technicians.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
