About the position
Best Friends Animal Clinic is looking for a dedicated Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our small animal practice in Marshall, VA. This role involves both veterinary assistant and receptionist duties, with a focus on providing excellent service, client education, and personalized patient care in a calm environment. The position is available for both full-time and part-time schedules, with flexibility in hours and the requirement to work two Saturdays a month.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the doctor with all aspects of patient care for outpatients and in-clinic/surgery patients, including restraint, taking radiographs, nursing care, surgery preparation, and anesthesia monitoring.
- Filling and dispensing medications accurately.
- Performing reception duties such as answering phones and checking clients in and out.
- Running in-house lab work and processing samples for outside laboratories.
- Cleaning duties including cleaning rooms between appointments, cages, surgery, instruments, laundry, and general clinic housekeeping.
Requirements
- Previous veterinary assistant experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant preferred.
- 1 year of experience at a front desk preferred.
- Dependable and quick to learn, able to work unsupervised once trained.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Avimark is a plus.
- Friendly, compassionate, mature, professional, and self-motivated with the ability to multi-task.
