About the position

The Veterinary Assistant at Banfield Pet Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure high-quality care for pets. This position involves advocating for pet health, educating clients, and maintaining a safe hospital environment. The Veterinary Assistant is responsible for various tasks that enhance the efficiency of the veterinary team and improve the overall experience for both pets and their owners.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality veterinary care.
• Communicate effectively with the veterinary team to maintain patient flow.
• Provide exceptional service to clients and ensure comfort for pets in the hospital.
• Educate clients on wellness plans, preventive care, and hospital services.
• Maintain accurate medical records and obtain relevant client information.
• Ensure safety by following protocols and maintaining clean treatment areas.
• Assist with surgical procedures as applicable.
• Utilize technical skills within state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.

Requirements

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant program or equivalent experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of related experience required, with customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to perform required skills of NAVTA approved veterinary assistant programs.
• Must be at least 18 years old for duties involving radiography.
