About the position

The Veterinary Assistant at Dr. Boyd's Veterinary Resort plays a crucial role in providing exceptional care to pets in a full-service veterinary hospital. This position involves working closely with veterinarians and credentialed veterinary technicians to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital, assisting in various procedures, and maintaining high standards of animal care and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments and procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery and minor procedures, including surgical assisting.
• Restrain animals safely and efficiently during examinations and procedures.
• Obtain accurate vitals and medical histories from pet owners.
• Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies.
• Maintain and care for all medical equipment essential to daily operations.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient updates and inquiries.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling.
• Strong communication skills and good judgment.
• Ability to manage stressful situations and work respectfully in a team.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
