About the position

The Full Time Experienced Doctor's Assistant at Veterinary Cancer Group LA plays a crucial role in supporting the radiation oncology team. This position involves a variety of tasks related to customer service and patient care, ensuring a positive experience for clients and their pets. The Doctor's Assistant will assist veterinarians with organizational duties, manage client interactions, and facilitate communication between clients and the veterinary team, all while contributing to the overall mission of providing exceptional care to animals diagnosed with cancer.

Responsibilities

• Assist the veterinarian with day-to-day organizational duties
• Prioritize phone calls, especially lab results for doctor review
• Delegate or compose referral letters
• Review new patient records prior to consultation
• Facilitate phone follow-up to undecided new clients
• Update referring veterinarians on patient treatment and office visits
• Coordinate outside referrals and emergency transfers
• Facilitate delivery of laboratory results to owners
• Update clients on patient status regarding procedures and hospitalized care
• Prepare ultrasound and CT request forms
• Complete forms and follow-up for study patients
• Update databases and maintain accurate records
• Assist technicians and receptionists as needed
• Discuss euthanasia and options for disposition of remains
• Enter computerized problem list for each new patient
• Communicate with referring veterinarians and their staff
• Prepare packaging of specimens for transport to labs
• Perform database searches in ezyVet
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience as a Veterinary Doctor's Assistant preferred
• Experience in Oncology is a plus
• Team player with a willingness to cross-train in all areas
• Positive attitude
• Open availability Monday-Friday 7:30AM-8PM
