About The Position

Bolton Veterinary Hospital is a fast-paced, general and emergency practice with 19 veterinarians on staff and a support team of over 100! We are proudly privately owned, and have been in operation since 1953. We have amazing employee benefits and a highly dedicated and tenured staff. We are looking for both Technicians and Assistants to work hand in hand with our veterinarians during wellness and urgent care appointments. Pay range is $18-$23 based on skill level, years of experience, education & relevant certifications.

Requirements

• Perform proficient animal restraint
• Update medical records as needed
• Have the ability to read previous medical records, scan and link, and update patient reminders
• Communicate with doctors and technicians through notations in medical records
• Record necessary (highlighted) information for hospitalized patients
• Create estimates/treatment plans, take home instructions and communicate them effectively and thoroughly, with confidence, to clients
• Create prescriptions based on doctors instructions including refills, written prescriptions, controlled drugs, chemo drugs
• Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, pharmacy area, treatment area; all surfaces
• Log controlled drugs
• Restock supplies
• Follow OSHA requirements
• Follow practice’s health and safety protocols

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology
• Working knowledge of pharmaceutical medications (including controlled drugs/chemo)
• Basic laboratory skills
• Understanding of common diseases; their symptoms, means of transmission, treatment and prevention
• Other basic preventative health care recommendations

Responsibilities

• Administer subcutaneous & intramuscular injections
• Conduct blood draws
• Ensure quality, excellent patient care, and client services
• Help conduct physical examinations
• Emergency triage/procedures when necessary
• Assist veterinarians with euthanasia procedures
• Provide client education
• Phone triage/client communication
• Basic cleaning of exam rooms
• Nail trims
• Inventory maintenance of exam room supplies
