About the position

The Veterinary Hospital Receptionist at Petco plays a crucial role in providing excellent customer care to clients of the Vetco Total Care hospital. This position is responsible for managing the front desk operations, ensuring a welcoming environment for both pets and their owners, and facilitating smooth communication between clients and medical staff. The Concierge is often the first and last point of contact for clients, making it essential to create a positive experience throughout their visit.

Responsibilities

  • Answer the practice phone and route calls appropriately.
  • Maintain the hospital appointment calendar, scheduling appointments and reviewing online bookings.
  • Greet clients and patients by name upon arrival and notify technical staff.
  • Monitor wait times and make accommodations during busy periods or emergencies.
  • Participate in training new staff members and disseminate knowledge as required.
  • Ensure the waiting area is clean and well-stocked with materials.
  • Confirm all appointments via the client's preferred communication method the day prior.
  • Provide backup support to technical staff when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma is required.
  • At least 1 year of previous experience in a veterinary practice or customer-facing role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassionate and sympathetic demeanor, maintaining professionalism in stressful situations.
  • Exceptional telephone and computer skills.
  • Team player willing to learn new techniques and accept change.
