The receptionist is the first point of contact for clients and is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere while handling various administrative tasks in a busy veterinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive attitude.
• Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system.
• Screen and route calls to appropriate staff and take messages as needed.
• Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital guidelines.
• Note details in medical records during client conversations.
• Enter accurate charges and explain invoices to clients.
• Collect payments and process transactions accurately.
• Verify client eligibility with charge accounts and maintain accurate records.
• Advise clients on preventative care and retail products.
• Fill prescription refill forms and provide administration instructions.

Requirements

• Veterinary medicine experience required.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Knowledgeable about vaccine schedules and commonly used veterinary medications.
• Familiar with common veterinary tests and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Computer literacy and ability to handle payment and financial issues.
