Plaza Pet Clinic is a growing, increasingly fast-paced mixed animal veterinary clinic located in Winchester, Virginia. Established in 1989 as a satellite vaccine clinic to the Roseville Veterinary Clinic in Boyce, VA, Plaza Pet Clinic has evolved into a busy, full-service small animal general practice. The clinic focuses on wellness and preventive care, offering a range of services including surgery, dentistry, digital radiography, and ultrasound. As a Veterinary Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in the clinic's operations. Your primary responsibilities will include receiving and placing calls to clients for scheduling appointments, maintaining proper documentation through client and pet records, and assisting clients with necessary instructions, information, and invoices. You will also be responsible for managing the financial needs of the hospital, ensuring accurate balances through the collection of client transactions, and adhering to cash and credit card handling procedures. The role requires excellent customer service skills, strong communication abilities, and a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets, and teammates. In addition to these responsibilities, you will advocate for pets by educating clients on preventive care, pet health needs, and treatment recommendations. The position requires knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures, as well as the ability to work independently and accept direction on assigned tasks. A flexible schedule is necessary, as the role may include some weekend and holiday shifts. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to manage stressful situations effectively. This position offers a pay range of $13-$16 per hour based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and place calls to clients for the purpose of scheduling appointments.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.
  • Maintain proper documentation through client and pet records, including referral documentation and previous medical history.
  • Assist clients by providing necessary instructions, information, and invoices, and dispense prescription items per the veterinarian's instructions.
  • Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.
  • Manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through collection of client transactions, following cash and credit card handling procedures, and adhering to proper opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally with clients.
  • Advocate for pets through client education on preventative care, pet health needs, treatment recommendations, and all other hospital services/procedures.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets, and teammates.
  • Demonstrate empathy toward clients and treat pets with compassion and respect.
  • Utilize standard office/business equipment effectively.
  • Possess knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to manage stressful situations.

Requirements

  • Experience in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures is essential.
