About the position

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team in Fort Pierce, FL. This full-time position involves providing high-quality care to animal patients, assisting veterinarians during examinations, administering medications, and supporting the veterinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess excellent technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide skillful animal handling/holding during the examination/treatment process
• Assist veterinarians in examining and treating animals
• Perform animal catheterization and venipuncture
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Maintain accurate medical records and document patient information
• Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the veterinary clinic

Requirements

• Proficient in animal handling techniques and restraint methods
• Working knowledge at dispensing medications, fecal test reading, blood draw and accurate vaccine preparation
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medical procedures
• Strong understanding of aseptic technique and infection control protocols
• Experience with laboratory procedures including sample collection and analysis
• Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices
• Ability to perform basic dog training techniques
• Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and nutritional requirements
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work well in a team environment
