About the position

The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) at Ruff Day Vet plays a vital role in both clinical responsibilities and the development of new services as the clinic expands. This position is divided into two phases: a startup phase focused on service development and a maintenance phase centered on patient care and service management. The technician will collaborate closely with the DVM to create and manage various services, ensuring high-quality care and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the DVM to develop a holistic nutrition service and manage client consultations and diet formulations.
  • Create the clinic's Controlled Substances Administration (CSA) protocol and develop a compassionate euthanasia service.
  • Assist in developing a comprehensive sedation service and set up protocols for drug stock management.
  • Expand technician services such as laser therapy, SQ fluids, and injections in collaboration with the DVM.
  • Assist in developing and executing a marketing plan for new services and contribute to community engagement through group classes.
  • Perform therapeutic exercises under DVM direction and conduct brief exams and check vitals prior to treatment sessions.
  • Lead emergency response efforts in collaboration with the DVM, providing immediate intervention and stabilizing care.
  • Participate in daily patient rounds and assist in communicating treatment plans to clients.
  • Assist in acupuncture and rehabilitation support appointments utilizing fear-free patient handling techniques.
  • Assist in Extracorporeal Shock Wave (ECSW) procedures utilizing fear-free patient handling techniques.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT).
  • Experience in veterinary clinical settings, particularly in service development and patient care.
  • Strong communication skills for client consultations and team collaboration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities.
