About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in animal care and a knack for leadership. As a Lead Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients while assisting veterinarians in various clinical procedures. Your leadership will help direct our team and implement changes as needed, maintaining a positive and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats for examinations and procedures.
  • Proficient in drawing blood from animals for testing.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including hematology, biochemistry, and urinalysis.
  • Take and process radiographs (X-rays) while understanding radiation safety.
  • Assist in anesthesia administration and monitor patients during surgical procedures.
  • Provide nursing care, including administering medications, IV fluids, and wound care.
  • Perform dental cleanings and assist with oral surgery.
  • Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, including preparation and maintenance of sterile fields.
  • Explain procedures and provide education to pet owners about animal care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Knowledge of first aid and emergency protocols for injured or critically ill animals.
  • Manage supplies, including medications and equipment.

Requirements

  • Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience and a drive to excel.
  • A collaborative spirit and an ownership attitude.
  • Passion for animal care and team development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a small animal practice.
  • Knowledge of veterinary software systems.
