About the position

The Full-Time Veterinary Technician at Animal Eye Center of NJ plays a vital role in the ophthalmology team, directly impacting the ophthalmologist's ability to diagnose and treat ocular diseases. This position requires a skilled technician who can perform various technical tasks and support the veterinary ophthalmologist in providing high-quality care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the ophthalmologist in diagnosing and treating ocular diseases.
  • Perform technical skills such as restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, and general nursing care.
  • Conduct advanced procedures including Schirmer tear tests, tonometry, ocular ultrasounds, and electroretinograms.
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist in surgical procedures.
  • Lift and restrain patients up to 50lbs as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and clients to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding patient needs and care.
  • Advocate for patient care and maintain a compassionate approach.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of technical experience in veterinary medicine.
  • Technical skill set including restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, and general nursing care experience.
  • Ability to perform advanced ophthalmic procedures is preferred.
  • Experience in anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance is required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for veterinary medicine and patient care.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced veterinary environment is advantageous.
