About the position

The Veterinary Technician position at Pleasantville Animal Hospital involves providing high-quality care to a variety of animals, including pets and exotic species. The role requires a licensed veterinary technician or a soon-to-be licensed individual to join a dedicated team in a newly established hospital. The technician will be responsible for monitoring patients, assisting in surgeries, and performing various medical procedures while ensuring effective communication with both staff and clients.

Responsibilities

• Receive, handle, and treat patients with skill, compassion, and care.
• Monitor patients during anesthesia and administer fluids as needed.
• Assist in diagnosing, surgery, and specialized nursing care.
• Input data into the computer software system/patient files.
• Observe animal appearance and activity for signs of illness or distress.
• Maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals, equipment, and supplies.
• Place IV catheters in various veins and induce anesthesia/endotracheal intubation.
• Perform professional dental cleanings and dental radiographs.

Requirements

• Valid Veterinary Technician Certification license or soon to be licensed.
• Experience as a veterinary technician (1 year preferred).
• Associate's degree in a related field.
