About the position

The Vibrant Life® Director (Activity Director) is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Vibrant Life® Department in a senior living community. This role involves planning, facilitating, and directing activities that promote the physical, mental, and psychological well-being of residents. The Director will also develop wellness programs for families, supervise department staff, and ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a creative social atmosphere throughout the community and promote resident and family participation through events and activities.
  • Coordinate and attend special functions and Vibrant Life® activity programs for major holidays.
  • Ensure activities meet the cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity of residents and their families.
  • Meet with each new resident within thirty days of move-in to complete the 'Story of a Lifetime.'
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal and state regulations concerning the department.
  • Encourage resident participation in all Vibrant Life® activities.
  • Lead Vibrant Life® activities for at least ten hours per week.
  • Hire, evaluate, and supervise department staff in accordance with company policy.
  • Monitor compliance with the department's budget and complete Monthly Spend Downs.
  • Ensure proper use of Petty Cash in accordance with company policies.
  • Complete vendor/entertainer check requests accurately and timely.
  • Plan and conduct staff in-services as directed.
  • Coordinate transportation needs of residents for Vibrant Life® events and appointments.
  • Drive the community van as needed.
  • Stay current on senior activities through continuing education and networking.
  • Support referral source development efforts and assist with marketing events.
  • Develop and manage a 'New Resident Welcome' program.
  • Develop and manage a 'Resident Birthday' program.
  • Recruit and manage Community Volunteers and maintain required logs.
  • Hold a Resident Council Meeting each month.
  • Perform clerical work related to the position, such as the Monthly Activity Calendar.
  • Assist with special event setups.
  • Participate in community marketing efforts and conduct tours for potential residents.
  • Arrange coverage of job duties during employee absences.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of resident abuse as a mandated reporter.
  • Participate in daily 'Stand-Up' meetings to communicate key issues.
  • Obtain and maintain all state-required certifications/licensures.
  • Encourage teamwork and maintain a positive professional image.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age due to driving requirement.
  • First Aid certification required.
  • Experience in providing planned activities or enrollment in an appropriate education or training program for communities licensed for 16 to 49 persons.
  • One year of experience in conducting group activities for communities licensed for 50 or more persons, with knowledge in evaluating residents' needs and supervising employees.
  • College Degree preferred.
