About the position

The Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs/College Provost is a senior leadership role responsible for enhancing student outcomes and institutional effectiveness at Delgado Community College. This position involves providing strategic direction in academic affairs, overseeing faculty and staff development, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. The role requires a commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as the ability to foster collaboration across various departments to achieve the college's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Improve student outcomes through college-wide benchmarks supported by every academic school, department, and unit of the College.
  • Provide college-wide leadership in student engagement, learning, career and academic pathways, and faculty and staff development.
  • Lead comprehensive, integrated, research-based planning and assessment processes focusing on institutional quality and effectiveness.
  • Effect continuous improvement through an institutional planning and assessment process linked to decision-making and budgetary decisions.
  • Prepare and manage budgets consistent with strategic goals and institutional outcomes.
  • Provide leadership in developing class schedules, college catalogs, and key academic reports that meet quality and accreditation standards.
  • Develop innovative student programs and initiate national best practices.
  • Support and implement professional development opportunities for faculty in various instructional modalities.
  • Evaluate programs and identify existing and emerging programs of study for institutional investment.
  • Articulate and carry out effective strategies for increasing support for diverse populations.
  • Perform all duties assigned by the Chancellor.

Requirements

  • Doctorate from a university accredited by an authorized accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of leadership experience at the dean level or higher in a community college or university setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing academic instruction or training in a formal setting.
  • Experience in increasing student access/enrollment and improving retention, transfer, and graduation rates.
  • Proven leadership experience in institutional and academic program accreditation processes.
  • Experience working with academic deans and faculty on curriculum and program development.
  • Experience in participatory governance with involvement of all constituent groups.
  • Excellence in forming and maintaining strategic alliances with economic development organizations and the community.
  • Experience securing grants and external resources for academic programs.
  • Sensitivity to and ability to work with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
