About the position

The Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Strategy and Chief of Staff at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is a strategic leader responsible for advancing the university's mission and inclusive strategic goals. This role combines oversight of inclusive culture and belonging with high-level support for the Chancellor, driving initiatives that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (IDEA) principles across the institution. The position is pivotal in shaping the university's strategic direction and fostering a collaborative and innovative culture throughout all academic and operational areas.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Chancellor and senior leadership, driving the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic vision.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to conduct strategic assessments and analyses to identify opportunities and address challenges.
  • Lead the creation and execution of a dynamic strategic plan that emphasizes inclusive excellence.
  • Champion initiatives that embed IDEA principles in every decision and action.
  • Mentor and inspire leadership at all levels, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Act as a primary liaison between the Chancellor, the Board of Regents, and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversee preparation for Board of Regents meetings, ensuring compliance with governance standards.
  • Lead transformative, university-wide initiatives that drive positive, inclusive change.
  • Manage multi-divisional projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Advocate for initiatives promoting equity, belonging, and engagement across the university.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic leadership within a complex organizational environment, ideally in higher education.
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives that drive organizational growth and promote inclusivity.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in strategic planning, policy analysis, and change management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, including American Sign Language.
  • Certification or degree in inclusion, diversity, equity, and access leadership or a related field.
