About the position

The Vice Dean and Chief Administrative Officer at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the administration and financial management of the school. Reporting directly to the Dean, this position plays a crucial role in strategic planning, policy formulation, and operational oversight, particularly in the context of evolving global challenges and opportunities. The Vice Dean will lead significant transformational efforts, manage a substantial budget, and collaborate with various university units to enhance SIPA's impact and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning efforts for SIPA, including the design and management of a five-year strategic plan.
  • Establish financial strategies for the school in partnership with the Senior Associate Dean of Finance and Administration.
  • Oversee enrollment management and set admissions targets for SIPA's programs.
  • Plan and analyze Capital Campaign and fundraising initiatives in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations.
  • Implement school-wide processes and procedures to ensure compliance with university policies and effective resource allocation.
  • Build and grow SIPA's Executive Education programs, including developing a business plan for growth.
  • Support the planning and implementation of new curriculum in partnership with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
  • Lead growth initiatives for SIPA in new markets, including budgeting and staffing.
  • Oversee facilities operations for SIPA work sites and manage building issues and renovations.
  • Drive human resources initiatives that align with the school's long-term strategic goals.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree and 10+ years of directly related professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a strategic vision for the institution.
  • Experience in leading a strategic vision with high aspirations for quality and reputation.
  • Ability to serve as a strategic partner and counsel to senior leaders.
  • Experience managing finance, operations, IT, HR, and capital planning.
  • Self-motivated leader with the ability to articulate SIPA's vision and strategy.
  • Highly organized mentor who builds effective cross-functional teams.
  • Proven commitment to championing DEI and cultural agility.
  • Exceptional judgement, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency with MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and web content management platforms.

  • Additional years of experience in a senior management role in a large, complex organization.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $275,000-$300,000 based on qualifications and experience.
