About the position

The Vice President (Administrative Services) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Westchester Community College is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial and business administration of the college. Reporting directly to the President, the CFO will implement financial systems, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with regulations while promoting student success and academic achievement through effective resource allocation. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and direct supervision of administrative staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, develop, and implement financial systems and procedures including budget preparation and analysis.
  • Oversee general accounting services and benefits administration.
  • Manage auxiliary enterprise operations such as food and vending services.
  • Handle purchasing, procurement, and contract management.
  • Work with independent, federal, and NYS auditors for compliance and internal audits.
  • Direct plant management, maintenance, and facilities planning and construction.
  • Lead risk management and security services for the college.
  • Collaborate with the President and senior administrators on strategic initiatives.
  • Support the Board of Trustees' Finance Committee and set financial policy as Treasurer.
  • Supervise the collection of tuition and fees, including accounts receivable and grants.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to various government agencies and institutions regarding financial affairs.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Minimum of six years of experience, with at least three years in an executive leadership role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex financial information for diverse audiences.
  • Understanding of the political, social, and economic factors affecting public higher education.
  • Evidence of responsiveness to diverse backgrounds and equity-minded practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possession of a CPA license is preferred.
