About the position

The Vice President (VP) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is a key executive role responsible for leading the Financial Management Group (FMG). This position ensures that the Bank's financial functions are effective, efficient, and compliant while meeting stakeholder needs. The VP/CFO will oversee a team of approximately 20 and will play a significant role in financial and strategic initiatives across the Federal Reserve System, promoting innovation and collaboration within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and accountability for the accuracy and integrity of the Bank's financial information.
  • Direct the preparation of the Bank's budgets, plans, and forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate financial planning efforts throughout the Bank, collaborating with the First Vice President/Chief Operating Officer.
  • Review and adopt System accounting changes, ensuring proper application by staff.
  • Oversee FMG activities including accounts payable, financial accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Lead periodic meetings with FMG leadership and staff to communicate strategies and responsibilities.
  • Represent the Bank in various Federal Reserve System leadership groups.
  • Promote an inclusive workplace culture that encourages employee engagement and diversity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; graduate degree and/or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant leadership experience in a complex business environment, with at least 5-7 years in finance and/or accounting.
  • Superior business acumen and strategic planning skills with a focus on innovation and automation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with effective presentation capabilities.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute plans effectively.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to manage and motivate teams.

  • Experience in a regulatory or compliance-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with risk management practices in finance and accounting.
