About the position

The Vice President of Carbon Capture & Sequestration at Tallgrass Energy will provide leadership and technical guidance for all aspects of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS). This role involves managing the development, engineering, and operation of CCS facilities while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. The position requires a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape and experience in delivering large-scale CCUS projects, along with the ability to lead and build teams within the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project development of CCUS initiatives at Tallgrass and support the operation of these projects.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on Sequestration, maintaining knowledge of applicable regulations and analyzing proposed regulations.
  • Manage permitting obligations associated with U.S. CO2 sequestration, overseeing third-party consultants for permit acquisition.
  • Coordinate with Engineering during the front-end and detailed engineering processes of CCUS projects.
  • Provide technical support to Environmental, Regulatory, and Air permitting teams for environmental permits acquisition.
  • Develop and maintain CCUS project plans and procedures in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with CCUS project permits, legislation, and company standards.
  • Develop and execute Class VI well testing and monitoring plans, supervising report submissions to regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in CO2 sequestration, particularly in development and operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading diverse project teams in the CCUS industry.
  • Strong understanding of carbon storage and sequestration opportunities across the lower 48 states.
  • Experience in midstream functions including engineering, construction, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of CO2 transportation and storage operations, and the regulatory process for permitting Class VI wells.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to present to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Experience with government agencies and programs related to CO2 pipelines and storage.
