About the position

The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Western Digital is a pivotal leadership role responsible for developing and executing the company's information security strategy. This position ensures the protection of information assets and systems while aligning security initiatives with business objectives. The CISO collaborates with executive management to assess risk levels and promotes a culture of security awareness throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee the information security organization, focusing on the effectiveness of security controls and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and IT teams to identify security risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Own and promote information security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends to enhance the company's security posture.
  • Manage security incidents, including containment, communication, and recovery efforts.
  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify gaps and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide updates and reports to executive leadership and the board on information security initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of security awareness through training and employee engagement activities.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of security professionals.

Requirements

  • Experienced Information Security executive leader in a substantial enterprise, preferably in high-tech or manufacturing.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of effectively presenting to senior executive leaders and company board of directors.
  • Ability to act calmly in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and frameworks, including NIST CSF and ISO 27001.
  • Familiarity with global privacy laws.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or similar; advanced degree preferred.
