About the position

The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Western Digital is a pivotal leadership role responsible for establishing and executing the company's vision and strategy for securing information assets and systems. This position collaborates with executive management to assess acceptable risk levels and ensures that information security serves as both a business enabler and protector. The CISO will lead the information security organization, focusing on the effectiveness of security controls and fostering a culture of security awareness across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee the information security organization, emphasizing the effectiveness of security controls and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and IT teams to identify security risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Own and promote information security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends to enhance the company's security posture.
  • Manage security incidents, including containment, communication, and recovery efforts.
  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify gaps and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide updates and reports to executive leadership and the board on information security initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of security awareness through training and employee engagement activities.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of security professionals.

Requirements

  • Experienced Information Security executive leader in a substantial enterprise, preferably in high-tech or manufacturing.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of presenting to and interacting with senior executive leaders and boards.
  • Ability to act calmly in high-pressure situations.
  • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and frameworks, including NIST CSF and ISO 27001.
  • Familiarity with global privacy laws.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or similar; advanced degree preferred.
