About the position

The Vice President & Chief Operating Officer (COO) of UT Health RGV is a key executive responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of clinical and ambulatory services. This role involves establishing operational efficiencies, advising senior leadership, and ensuring the integration of operations across the organization to enhance patient care and organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily activities of UT Health RGV and provide strategic direction for operational executives.
• Formulate long-range objectives and plans based on the clinical strategic plan and organizational goals.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including affiliate hospitals and healthcare providers.
• Drive sustainable business development initiatives to expand market presence.
• Collaborate with health system partners to meet clinical, research, education, and community engagement missions.
• Establish objectives and performance standards for clinical and ambulatory areas.
• Coordinate staff development and ensure adequate recruitment and retention of clinical staff.
• Participate in decision-making processes with the executive team and departmental leadership.
• Direct performance improvement measures related to patient access, satisfaction, and quality.
• Evaluate and select technology and health information systems to support patient care needs.
• Ensure conformity to UT Health RGV policies and Joint Commission standards.
• Lead fiscal oversight of resources to optimize return on investment in clinical initiatives.

Requirements

• Master's degree in business administration, health administration, or related field.
• Seven (7) years of progressive operational leadership in a hospital or health system.

• Experience in a multi-site environment is preferred.
