About the position

The Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer at Ohio Catholic Federal Credit Union is a pivotal role responsible for expanding the credit union's commercial lending portfolio within the Cleveland market. This position requires a strategic approach to sales and relationship management, ensuring that members receive tailored financial solutions that align with their goals. The Commercial Banker will engage in both pre and post-sales activities, collaborating with internal and external partners to enhance member relationships and drive business growth. The role involves developing a comprehensive sales call strategy aimed at cross-selling profitable commercial business opportunities. The Commercial Loan Officer will actively participate in a robust business development plan, conducting sales calls to solicit new loans and deposits while also cross-selling additional services to existing members. This includes originating and negotiating loans, assessing the creditworthiness of loan requests, and providing exceptional service to members with inquiries or issues related to their accounts. Compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing lending activities is crucial, as is maintaining an awareness of industry trends and local economic conditions to optimize lending outcomes. The position also emphasizes community engagement, requiring the officer to build relationships through active participation in local service activities and business organizations, thereby projecting a positive image of the credit union in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a sales call strategy for the assigned area to develop and cross-sell profitable commercial business.
  • Conducts pre and post sales call planning to include internal and external partners when appropriate.
  • Engages all internal and external partners through joint call activity with members and prospects to deepen and obtain relationships by providing financial solutions.
  • Actively participates in an aggressive business development plan to increase the Credit Union's loan and deposit portfolio.
  • Conducts business development sales calls to solicit new loans and deposits.
  • Cross-sells additional loan, deposit, and merchant services to existing members through needs assessment review.
  • Originates and negotiates loans.
  • Interviews members and prospects to determine the credit worthiness of their loan requests.
  • Regularly performs joint calls with Branch Managers.
  • Provides service to members who have questions or problems with their loan or deposit accounts.
  • Contacts delinquent loan customers.
  • Remains knowledgeable of all laws and regulations governing the lending activities of financial institutions.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable credit union policies and procedures, and State and Federal regulations.
  • Maintains industry and market awareness and an understanding of the local economic trends to maximize lending results.
  • Builds community relationships by visible participation in service activities and business organizations.
  • Projects a positive image of the credit union in the local market.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience in Commercial Banking function in the Cleveland Market
  • Loan Structuring and credit analysis experience
  • Ability to multi-task and enjoy doing it along with presenting a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Keen problem solving and resolution technique
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required
