About the position

The Vice President of Compliance at Thomson Reuters is a senior leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's compliance program. This position ensures adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies across global operations, with a focus on ethical standards and the integration of artificial intelligence technologies. The VP will provide strategic guidance, manage compliance risks, and foster a culture of compliance within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program for a global organization.
  • Provide strategic guidance to ensure compliance with relevant laws and industry standards.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in laws and regulations affecting the organization.
  • Advise senior management on legal and compliance risks and recommend actions.
  • Ensure policies are regularly reviewed and updated to meet legal standards.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to ensure compliance of products.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks with business leaders.
  • Manage internal investigations and coordinate with legal counsel.
  • Lead a team of compliance professionals, providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators.
  • Provide expert advice on compliance matters, including contract reviews and risk assessments.
  • Manage compliance-related projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on compliance metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Design and deliver training programs on compliance-related topics.

Requirements

  • University degree in a business or legal-related field; a law degree is a strong asset.
  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in the technology sector is desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to the tech industry.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance and risk management principles.
  • Experience in developing and implementing compliance programs globally.
  • Ability to integrate business, operational, technological, and financial components in compliance work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with compliance issues related to AI and emerging technologies.
  • Proven ability to build and lead a high-performing team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
