About the position

The Vice President of Corporate Banking FIG Insurance at BMO Financial Group will play a crucial role in managing and developing relationships within the insurance sector. This position combines portfolio management and relationship management responsibilities, focusing on corporate lending transactions and credit due diligence for insurance clients. The role requires a deep understanding of the insurance industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to negotiate and structure deals effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of insurance companies, increasing client responsibility over time.
  • Prepare credit documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including credit applications and underwriting memoranda.
  • Review and monitor performance of existing accounts from both a return on equity and credit quality perspective.
  • Provide deal structuring expertise and negotiate transactions with clients.
  • Conduct due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships, including client visits and industry trend analysis.
  • Analyze data to provide insights and recommendations for strategic problems.
  • Balance the bank's risk appetite with client needs in recommendations and proposals.
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to enhance analysis and reporting efficiency.
  • Guide and review the work of Analysts and Associates to achieve business and credit results.
  • Identify opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to clients.
  • Act as a change agent to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness within the team.
  • Create pitch books for clients and participate in presentations regarding financial solutions.
  • Monitor client and industry changes that may affect client portfolios and business needs.
  • Collaborate with sector coverage partners to deliver timely solutions to clients.
  • Build positive client relations through a comprehensive understanding of client needs and alignment of products/services.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or accounting preferred, with high academic achievement.
  • Preferred MBA, CFA, or equivalent experience in financial services, accounting, or legal fields.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in corporate or commercial banking, specifically covering the insurance segment.
  • Advanced deal execution and project management skills, capable of managing multiple clients or initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in insurance credit analysis.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency in the insurance sector gained through education and business experience.
