About the position

The Vice President of Finance Transformation at CareOregon is a pivotal leadership role responsible for spearheading the finance transformation strategy across the organization. This position entails a comprehensive approach to strategic planning and operational effectiveness, focusing on the development and oversight of resources, relationships, and successful teams. The role requires a strong emphasis on relationship building, governance, conflict resolution, and effective communication throughout the enterprise. The Vice President will actively participate in strategic planning and collaboration, ensuring that the transformation initiatives align with the overall goals of the organization. In this capacity, the Vice President will lead the transformation planning, including roadmap development and goal prioritization. They will oversee the execution of modernization and transformation projects, managing any escalations that arise. A critical aspect of this role is to ensure that the transformation plan supports the Chief Financial Officer's strategy and the organization's priorities. The Vice President will assess current finance capabilities and needs, collaborating with finance leadership throughout all stages of transformation. They will also address internal and external resistance to change, driving an effective governance structure to ensure timely progress on projects and initiatives. The Vice President will be responsible for developing and executing communication plans that effectively persuade and inform stakeholders across the organization. They will oversee the finance data personnel, transformation team, and consultants, acting as a champion for the transformation mandate. Additionally, the role involves leading the development of vision and goals for finance teams, refining strategic plans in alignment with the organizational vision, and defining operational structures for areas of oversight. Financial and resource management is another key responsibility, where the Vice President will develop budgets aligned with strategic planning, ensuring that teams have the necessary resources to perform their work effectively. They will monitor and manage budgets across areas of oversight, approving resource allocations and making decisions on exceptions as needed. The Vice President will forge strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring that strategic messages are effectively communicated to the management team and staff. They will represent the organization in external meetings, providing strong leadership presence and effectiveness. Employee supervision is also a critical component of this role, where the Vice President will direct teams, establish goals, and ensure that employees have the necessary information and resources to meet job expectations. Responsibilities

  • Lead transformation planning, roadmap development, and goal prioritization.
  • Direct and oversee execution of modernization and transformation projects and initiatives; manage project escalation.
  • Ensure the transformation plan supports the CFO finance strategy and organization's priorities.
  • Assess current finance capabilities and needs.
  • Collaborate with finance leadership throughout all stages of transformation.
  • Address internal and external change resistance, obstacles, and delays.
  • Drive effective governance structure of projects and initiatives to ensure timely progress.
  • Develop and execute communication plans that persuade, influence, and keep the organization informed.
  • Ensure commitment and buy-in by line of business, benefit, and functional leaders.
  • Oversee Finance data personnel, transformation team, and consultants.
  • Communicate mandate for transformation and act as transformation champion.
  • Lead the development of vision and goals for Finance teams.
  • Develop and refine strategic plans in alignment with organizational vision and goals.
  • Define operational structure for areas of oversight and approve policies.
  • Participate in the strategic planning process for the organization.
  • Maintain an enterprise view while establishing business unit priorities.

  • Partner with leaders across the organization in identifying integrated improvement strategies and ensuring meaningful integration.
  • Represent the organization in external meetings and functions, providing strong leadership presence and effectiveness.
  • Direct team(s) and establish team direction and goals in alignment with the organizational mission, vision, and values.
  • Identify work and staffing models; recruit, hire, and oversee a team to meet work needs, using an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens.
  • Identify department priorities; ensure employees have information and resources to meet job expectations.
  • Lead the development, communication, and oversight of team and individual goals; ensure goals, expectations, and standards are clearly understood by staff.
  • Manage, coach, motivate, and guide employees; promote employee development.
  • Incorporate guidance from CareOregon equity tools into people leadership, planning, operations, evaluation, budgeting, resource allocation, and decision making.
  • Ensure team adheres to department and organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide regular feedback to support success; recognize strong performance and address performance gaps and accountability (corrective action).
  • Perform supervisory tasks in collaboration with Human Resources as needed.
  • Perform work in alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in finance and/or accounting functions, including experience leading financial initiatives.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory position.
  • Understanding of finance and accounting systems, including ERP systems.
  • Understanding of project management and process improvement principles.
  • Understanding of strategic planning principles and approaches.
  • Ability to effectively lead across the organization.
  • Ability to resolve differences and find consensus among leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong people management and motivational skills.
  • Ability to align strategic objectives, establish goals, and effectively lead a portfolio of projects in collaboration with peers and executive leadership.
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to speak to all audiences, especially communication of complex matters.
  • Ability to lead and deliver work product appropriate for executive leadership and the Board.

  • Estimated hiring range $200,000 - $243,850 / year
  • 15% bonus target
