About the position

The Vice President of Financial Reporting and Chief Accounting Officer will provide executive leadership over the Record to Report (R2R) function at Trinity Health. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, implementing best practices, and driving system-wide standardization in financial and managerial reporting capabilities. The position involves advising senior leadership, managing shared services, and overseeing various financial functions including accounting, payroll, and tax support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership over the Record to Report (R2R) function.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and relevant financial and management information is developed and disseminated.
  • Drive system-wide standardization and implementation of financial reporting capabilities.
  • Monitor local operations and advise Ministry Senior Leadership Teams.
  • Implement new system-wide programs to improve performance in financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP.
  • Advise management on changes in accounting regulations or practices.
  • Develop financial and managerial reporting best practices for timely analysis.
  • Assess quality of accounting and financial reporting provided by Ministries.
  • Establish uniform chart of accounts and standardized reporting templates.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation of financial statements.
  • Present financial analyses to senior leadership and committees.
  • Coordinate annual external audit processes for the System.
  • Provide guidance for accounting treatment of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Emphasize talent management and develop staff in the finance team.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of leadership experience in healthcare finance and accounting.
  • Strong accounting technical skills with CPA certification required.
  • Experience in audit firm background.
  • Strong analytical skills for understanding complex issues.
  • Ability to drive organizational change across a multi-billion organization.
  • Strong leadership skills to influence and achieve results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Established executive presence for effective presentations.
