About the position

The Vice President for Administrative Services at Big Bend Community College (BBCC) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the college's financial management and administrative operations. This position plays a critical role in strategic growth, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and enhancing the student experience through effective resource management. The VP will lead initiatives to identify new revenue streams and improve auxiliary services, while also providing strategic support to the President and Board of Trustees.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the chief advisor to the President on strategic matters related to budget development and finance administration.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of budget and accounting management functions in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate the development of the annual college budget, ensuring it supports the college's mission and values.
  • Provide timely analysis of budgets and financial reports to assist in decision-making processes.
  • Lead efforts to assess the effectiveness of Administrative Services programs and enhance the student experience.
  • Identify opportunities for new revenue streams and partnerships that align with the college's strategic goals.
  • Oversee capital construction and master facility planning, ensuring project budgets are accurately maintained.
  • Recommend new or revised policies and procedures to facilitate program objectives and improve processes.
  • Supervise five direct reports and support staff development in all areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with audit criteria and oversee all college grants and contracts.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Five years of progressive leadership/administrative responsibility within education or similar organizations.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of public or higher education financial systems.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board regulations (GASB).
  • Experience managing technical fiscal information systems and management functions.
  • Experience working successfully in a multicultural environment.
  • Higher education work experience.
  • Experience with physical plant planning and capital construction.
