About the position

The Vice President for Finance & Chief Financial Officer (VP for Finance & CFO) at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) plays a pivotal role in the financial leadership of the institution. This position is responsible for the coordination and management of the university's budgets, treasury functions, student accounting services, and ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements. The VP for Finance & CFO serves as a key financial liaison to both internal constituencies and external agencies, facilitating effective communication and collaboration across various departments and stakeholders. In this role, the VP for Finance & CFO will oversee the annual operating and auxiliary budgets, ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support the university's mission and strategic goals. This includes managing the treasury function and ensuring that student services are adequately funded and compliant with all relevant regulations. The position also involves supporting the operations of the Office of the President and the university at large, contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the institution's financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance, with a minimum of five years of direct management experience over a team of financial professionals. A Master’s degree in Business or a related field is required, along with a demonstrated history of effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience in a higher education environment is preferred, and a CPA certification is highly desirable. The VP for Finance & CFO will be expected to engage in strategic planning and budgeting, ensuring that EKU remains financially sound and capable of meeting its educational objectives.

  • Demonstrated history of effective communications with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves
