About the position

The Vice President & General Manager, Head of Ameriprise Advisor Center is responsible for leading the Ameriprise Advisor Center (AAC), which provides personalized financial guidance and support to clients. This role involves driving the strategic growth of the AAC, ensuring a consistent client experience, and managing a team in a dynamic environment. The position requires collaboration across various functions to enhance client satisfaction and sales results.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evolve the AAC strategy to deliver personalized financial advice to clients.
  • Manage business planning and financial results for the AAC.
  • Create a talent strategy that includes career paths and succession planning.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships across the enterprise to support AAC growth.
  • Lead the execution of recognition and engagement initiatives across teams.
  • Support the sales and operations annual planning process.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Communicate the strategic direction of AAC to the team and partners.
  • Lead projects on time and within budget, including cross-department projects.
  • Ensure effective controls are in place to manage risk and compliance.
  • Manage the budget for areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of leadership experience in financial planning or investment advising.
  • Ability to hire and develop strong financial advisors.
  • Proven track record in leadership roles and managing teams.
  • Experience in building and leading a phone-based advisor sales distribution organization.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to execute strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with employees and clients.
  • Good business judgment and focus on key business priorities.
  • Ability to lead across the enterprise in a matrixed organization.
  • Proven people leadership capabilities across geographic locations.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Master's preferred.
  • Experience managing a P&L, including revenue forecasting and budgeting skills.
  • Series 7, 24, 63/66 or 65/66 required or ability to obtain them.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in business, finance, or economics preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial software and tools.
