About the position

The Vice President of Government & Public Affairs at Tallgrass is responsible for developing and executing strategic government relations and communications activities at various levels to position the company as a leader in clean energy initiatives while supporting traditional business interests. This role involves collaboration with internal teams and external consultants to align business objectives with public policy goals, requiring strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategies for government officials and community groups.
• Analyze and interpret legislative threats and opportunities, making recommendations for positive outcomes.
• Draft position papers, briefing materials, and technical documents on legislative and policy issues.
• Maintain alignment with Tallgrass Communication while developing content and communications materials independently.
• Lead an internal team and manage outside communications consultants and lobbyists.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, or related discipline.
• A minimum of 20 years of experience in external affairs roles, with 10 years in a management capacity.
• Proven track record in leveraging external affairs to support large-scale infrastructure development.
• Demonstrated superior leadership outcomes and ability to drive positive change.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the Energy, Oil, or Gas industries preferred.
• Master's Degree preferred.
