About the position

The Vice President of Information Technology Operations is responsible for overseeing all operational activities within the IT Operations department. This role involves planning, coordinating, and directing IT solutions that enhance critical business operations while ensuring maximum system availability and data integrity. The position requires establishing a robust organizational security stance and managing both internal and external security assets. The VP will also participate in strategic governance, budget management, and the development of IT policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization.
• Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business.
• Develop and manage departmental IT Operational budget in support of the organization.
• Establish IT Operations department goals, objectives and operating procedures.
• Ensure IT system operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations.
• Design and direct processing as well as backup methods and procedures to safeguard system integrity and availability.
• Create and maintain the organization's security architecture design and documents.
• Review enterprise hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts.
• Assess and make recommendations on the improvement or re-engineering of the IT operations organization.
• Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities.
• Supervise recruitment, development, retention and organization of all IT Operations staff.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the IT security industry and emerging threats.
• Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments.
• Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending.
• Coordinate consultations with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements.
• Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements.
• Develop and maintain IT Operations procedures, policies, and standards.
• Maintain comprehensive infrastructure monitoring and alerting.
• Prepare regular operational reports and ensure timely backup of electronic data.
• Supervise investigations into problematic activity and coordinate responses to audit concerns.
• Perform regular security awareness training for all employees.

Requirements

• Five years of experience managing and/or directing an IT operation, preferably in the financial services industry.
• Experience in strategic planning and execution.
• Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications and outsourced systems.
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
