About the position

The Vice President of Investment Accounting at BlackRock is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing derivative accounting and reporting services for insurance clients. This position focuses on delivering high-quality accounting solutions, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory standards, and enhancing operational processes. The role offers opportunities for professional development and collaboration across various teams within the organization, contributing to the overall success of BlackRock's investment accounting services.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of Derivative accounting and reporting services.
  • Support the monthly accounting close and lead client/department initiatives.
  • Improve processes and controls using capabilities from other parts of BlackRock.
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of BlackRock's capabilities, products, and services for insurance companies.
  • Communicate implications of evolving regulatory landscape and new accounting pronouncements.
  • Support business growth, implementation of new clients, and client retention within the insurance sector.
  • Represent accounting on cross-functional projects and working groups.
  • Contribute to the development of investment reporting production and control processes.
  • Work with vendor partners to ensure development priorities are clearly stated.
  • Provide expert-level support on accounting-related matters to clients.
  • Conduct periodic training with the Investment Accounting Team.
  • Review quarterly NAIC or other regulatory reconciliations and follow up on resolutions.
  • Assist with audits and recommend changes in control.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of proven experience in investments/markets and understanding of Derivative products and investment accounting.
  • Knowledge of insurance companies, including regulatory and accounting constraints and standards.
  • Continuous operational improvement and control enhancement mentality.
  • Familiarity with Derivative specific financial reporting and disclosures.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
