About the position

The Vice President of Machine Learning Engineering at Clarivate will lead the AI Product Transformation team, focusing on identifying and implementing high-leverage AI opportunities within the life sciences portfolio. This role combines technical leadership with strategic oversight, requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive AI initiatives that align with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Identify highest leverage AI implementation opportunities across the Clarivate life sciences portfolio.
• Assist in communicating AI investment and growth opportunities to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), CEO, and potentially the Board of Directors.
• Formulate, communicate, and lead iteration of implementation approaches to achieve AI project goals.
• Hire, lead, and manage a diverse, high-performing engineering team to execute against these goals.
• Work closely with individual product owners and biologists to understand workflows, constraints, business value, and opportunities.
• Spend extensive time analyzing data and contributing meaningful amounts of code and/or documentation.
• Mentor and develop a team of junior engineers and data scientists.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent applicable experience).
• 8+ years of industry experience and 2+ years in engineering management.
• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, data preprocessing, and model evaluation.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and product owners to achieve strategic goals.
• Ability to take ownership of critical problems end-to-end.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or related field.
• Past experience in delivering working ML/AI products.
• Experience working with current commercial LLMs like GPT-4.
• Experience designing software for the life science industry.
