About the position

The Vice President, New Businesses will play a critical role in Kaiser Permanente's overall enterprise strategy and growth agenda. This position is responsible for supporting marketplace efforts, managing strategic opportunities, and serving as the General Manager of new businesses from startup mode until self-sufficiency. The VP will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with enterprise goals and will lead projects independently, potentially managing initiatives worth up to $3 billion.

Responsibilities

  • Translate enterprise strategy into actionable strategic business plans and work plans to launch and integrate new businesses.
  • Lead the development of multi-year roadmaps for priority new businesses.
  • Launch new businesses, including establishing initial processes and supporting the leadership team.
  • Scale the business by adjusting the business model, exploring new revenue streams, and optimizing operations.
  • Collaborate with Strategy and Business Development to manage a pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Identify and cultivate new business relationships that support growth objectives.
  • Develop and sustain a network of external peers and industry experts to stay informed about trends.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Develop and deliver plans to gain support from executive leadership and the KP Board of Directors.
  • Establish methodologies for the identification, evaluation, and execution of transactions.
  • Ensure appropriate engagement of internal and external parties in strategy development.
  • Mentor and develop team members to build strategic capabilities within the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated success in building and executing enterprise strategies.
  • Proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams.
  • Track record in corporate and partnership development or new business start-up.
  • Success managing complex programs and integrations.
  • Demonstrated success in developing a broad range of internal/external relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least five (5) years of experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Experience within a matrixed organization is preferred.
  • Success in managing complex transactions within healthcare delivery is preferred.
