About The Position

The Vice President of Business Development is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing corporate partner sales and business development operations for the Utah Jazz, Utah Hockey Club, and Delta Center. This role involves leading and coaching a team to achieve sales goals, collaborating on business strategies, and fostering a culture of success within the department.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of combined experience in partnership marketing, partnership sales, advertising sales, media sales, or other relatable business development capacities
  • 5+ years of successfully building, managing, and growing employees and teams
  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule as sporting events may require, including extended days and hours, holidays, and weekends
  • Proficient in the use of customer relationship management systems and Google Workspace
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coach, train, and develop Business Development team members, fostering a culture of continuous growth, learning, teamwork, and sales success
  • Lead the Business Development team in their sales process by actively working with Directors, Account Executives, and Business Development Specialists to identify prospective partners, host and entertain clients, develop and pitch new partnership packages, negotiate, and close new business
  • Drive innovation and creativity in the research, ideation, development, and pitching of sports partnership assets and campaigns to local, regional, and national advertisers
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight in the development and implementation of initiatives that improve the sales operations and enablement processes of the Business Development department
  • Develop authentic and collaborative relationships with internal leaders and their departments, ensuring Business Development objectives are aligned with company-wide efforts
  • Showcase expertise as an industry leader in partnership marketing, displaying a high level of acumen in corporate partnership sales and sports marketing
  • Provide leadership and support to team members during Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club games, maximizing networking opportunities
  • Regularly seek opportunities to implement new tools and technology into the business development process
  • Manage and strategically deploy department budgets to maximize resources and achieve sales goals
