About the position

The Vice President of Construction Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing all construction operations at Habitat Metro Denver, including new construction, home repairs, renovations, and community programs. This role is integral to the strategic leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO (Interim), and focuses on developing and implementing the affiliate's strategic plan while promoting the agency's mission and vision. The position emphasizes organizational leadership, program management, and collaboration across departments to ensure high-quality construction outcomes and community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee ongoing construction operations for various programs including new construction, ADU, home repair, and renovations.
  • Serve as a key member of Habitat's Leadership Team, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Develop long-term strategic plans for in-house construction programs in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Monitor and report on operational issues and achievements to executive leadership and the board.
  • Motivate and manage construction teams, providing leadership and guidance in goal setting and problem solving.
  • Coordinate construction activities and personnel, ensuring continuous workflow and resource allocation.
  • Research and implement energy-efficient construction methodologies and alternative building materials.
  • Represent Habitat's interests externally through engagement with relevant associations and stakeholders.
  • Support construction teams with contract creation, negotiation, and awardment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the residential construction industry.
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience in Construction Management, Real Estate Development, or a related field.
  • Experience in both for-profit and non-profit residential construction or real estate development is a plus.
  • Background in process improvement and project management is advantageous.
  • A related BA/BS degree is helpful for this role.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with public speaking and excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases, Procore (or similar project management software), and MS Teams.
  • Strong math and accounting skills.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $139,200 - $156,600, with a full range up to $208,800 based on experience and qualifications.
