About the position

The Vice President of Construction Operations at Habitat for Humanity is responsible for overseeing and managing ongoing construction operations across various programs, including new construction, home repairs, and renovations. This role is integral to the strategic leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO and contributing to the development and implementation of the affiliate's strategic plan. The position emphasizes maximizing community impact, ensuring high-quality work, and maintaining homeowner satisfaction through effective leadership and collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee ongoing construction operations for various programs including new construction and home renovations.
  • Serve as a key member of Habitat's Leadership Team to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Develop long-term strategic plans for in-house construction programs in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Monitor and report on operational issues and achievements to executive leadership and the board.
  • Motivate and mentor staff, providing guidance in goal setting and resource management.
  • Coordinate construction activities and personnel to ensure continuous workflow and efficiency.
  • Research and implement energy-efficient construction methodologies and materials.
  • Represent Habitat's interests in external engagements with stakeholders and committees.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the residential construction industry.
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience in Construction Management or Real Estate Development.
  • Experience in both for-profit and non-profit residential construction is preferred.
  • Background in process improvement and project management is a plus.
  • A related BA/BS degree is beneficial.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

  • Experience with project management software like Procore.
  • Strong math and accounting skills.
  • Ability to read construction documents and specifications.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $139,200 - $156,600, with a full range up to $208,800.
